Dave is widely known in his home country as Australia’s most influential player, and as a top international contender. And now he’s bringing that global expertise right back to the place he earned world acclaim as the first Australian to make the MLB — right here in Wisconsin with the Milwaukee Brewers!
“I am excited to return to Wisconsin and connect with the great people again. Definitely my time with the Brewers has affected all parts of my baseball life, and I expect it to help with my role with the Hounds.”
Dave was also the first Aussie to be named an All-Star, and he went on after his time with the Brewers to represent Australia in the Olympics in 2000 and 2004, when he brought home an Olympic Silver Medal.
He is the current manager of the Australian national team and Brisbane Bandits, which he has led to an unprecedented 4 consecutive ABL Championships alongside fellow DockHounds manager Jim Bennett — so this coaching pair has proven skill and synergy.
“Jim and I have a comfort level and understanding that makes it comfortable for the players,” he said. “We understand what it means to build a baseball community. I’m excited to help build a team that the Lake Country community can enjoy, too — and make sure they appreciate the fan support!”
He says his many different roles in baseball and family with 5 kids keep him busy!
