A Home Win Starts The Series Strong

Oconomowoc, Wis. – After a nine-game road trip, the DockHounds started off a nine-game homestand this evening with a 7-5 win over the Cleburne Railroaders. A homestand that includes 6 games against Cleburne followed by a three-game series against the Chicago Dogs began with an entertaining Lake Country victory tonight.

Coming into tonight’s game, the DockHounds as a team were 1-5 in games started by Conor Fisk. Now that record is 2-5. The veteran starter went 6 innings tonight, allowing 4 runs (all 4 earned), on 7 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3. Keisy Portorreal came in out of the bullpen and worked the final 3 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run, walking 1 and striking out 3 to finish the ballgame.

Offensively for Lake Country, Blake Tiberi reached base in 4 of his 5 trips to the plate from the leadoff spot, recording three singles and a walk. Nick Banks picked up 3 hits and had 2 RBIs as well. Dustin Woodcock went 2-5 and drove in 2 runs of his own. In total, all 9 DockHounds hitters reached base at least once in tonight’s game.

With the win tonight, the DockHounds improve to 15-19 on the season. With the loss, Cleburne falls to 18-18. Next up for Lake Country is the second game in this six-game series from Oconomowoc. Tomorrow night, LHP Tyler Pike is scheduled to start for the Hounds. RHP Kasey Kalich is slated to start on the mound for the Railroaders. Tomorrow night’s first pitch is set for 6:35 from Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
