Richardson Strikes Out Seven

Infielder, Demetrius Sims, with a homer against Cleburne RailRoaders in the fourth, to make the score 2-0 Lake Country.

Cleburne, Texas —  Cleburne RailRoaders shortstop Bret Boswell hit his second home run of the night to spoil the Lake Country DockHounds’ bid to get over .500 with a two-out, three-run shot in the 4-2 loss for Lake Country.

David Richardson thrived again in his third start, not allowing any runs through his first 5.2 innings while striking out seven. Boswell homered to end the shutout with two down in the sixth and chased Richardson from the game, still in line for the win.

The DockHounds got off to a good start against Kevin Hilton. Marek Chlup, who also doubled to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning, singled home Demetrius Sims in the first frame to strike first. Sims turned on the first pitch of the fourth inning for a solo shot to make it 2-0 Lake Country. Lake Country did not score the rest of the night, even after Blake Tiberi led off the sixth inning with a triple.

Austin Faith struck out the first six batters he faced in relief in a dominant outing. Like Richardson though, the last two batters singled, and Ken Huckaby went to Brady Kais for the left-on-left matchup against Boswell. Valid strategy, but it did not work.

Lake Country aims for a series split Sunday at 6:05 CT.
