Franklin, Wis. — Despite the loss in the comeback effort, the Lake Country DockHounds clinched the East Division regular season title with a Chicago Dogs loss.
This the first division title in DockHounds history, and now the DockHounds will pick its opponent for the East Division series and will host that team Friday night (and Saturday if necessary) at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park. First pitch Friday will be at 6:35 CT.
At Franklin Field Saturday night, the DockHounds trailed 6-0 entering the sixth inning. With two outs and nobody on, Brian O’Keefe started a two out rally that would eventually tie the game. Luke Roskam and Ryan Hernandez followed with singles before Freddy Rojas Jr. worked a nine-pitch walk to extend the frame and load the bases.
Adam Cootway, playing for the first time in a month, stroked a bases-clearing double to make it a two-run game. Now into the Milwaukee Milkmen bullpen, Demetrius Sims nearly tied the game with a double off the wall, but Hayden Dunhurst brought him in with a single to right field.
Milwaukee countered with its own two-out rally next half, scoring three runs to regain the lead and never wavered. The DockHounds will get two more cracks to pick up the 54th win of the year, which would set a franchise record. Sunday and Monday’s game will start at 1:00.
