DockHounds Announce New Alternate Team Name

Flying Monkeys weekend

The DockHounds will become the Flying Monkeys during June homestand.

The Lake Country DockHounds announced today that they will adopting an alternative team name for their homestand on June 14-16, 2024. The DockHounds will honor the 85th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz by changing their identity to the Lake Country Flying Monkeys.

“We strive to be a part of the Lake Country community and to help celebrate with the City of Oconomowoc, the 85th anniversary of the movie’s release, we decided to create an alternative team name,” explains Bryan Giese, Director of Marketing for the DockHounds.

The temporary name change will take place the weekend of June 14-16, when the Flying Monkeys take on the Cleburne RailRoaders. Throughout the weekend, the team will offer specials that tie into the Wizard of Oz theme by handing out 2,000 Tin Man Louie bobbleheads, presented by Lake Louie Brewing. There will be special Wizard of Oz themed merchandise, jerseys, on-field games, food and drink specials and more.

The City of Oconomowoc was one of a few small Midwest communities to initially screen the “Wizard of Oz” in 1939. The film was shown at The Strand Theater. The theater was located downtown in the area where Oconomowoc’s City Hall is today.
