Rosemont, Ill. — Unable to complete the sweep, the Lake Country DockHounds had to settle for a series win over the Chicago Dogs after falling 6-3 in the finale on Sunday.
In a spot start, Chris Jefferson left with the lead after three innings of one-run ball. In the blink of an eye, the Lake Country lead disappeared in the fifth inning.
Station to station went the DockHounds in the third and fourth innings, pushing them to a 3-1 lead without an extra-base hit. Once the fifth inning came, the Dogs seized advantage. While the pitching staff did not allow a hit the final five innings of the game, Chicago scored three in the fifth and two more for good measure in the sixth inning.
In the ninth inning, Lake Country battled, bringing the tying run to the plate, but Dogs closer Jacob Delabio avenged his blown save on Friday by stranding a pair. Following the off day Monday, the DockHounds renew their Wisconsin rivalry with the Milwaukee Milkmen at Franklin Field Tuesday morning with Luke Hansel getting the ball.
