16 Eury Perez

From San Luis, Dominican Republic, outfielder Eury Pérez began his professional baseball career in 2007 as a 17-year-old when he signed with the Washington Nationals.

At 19 years old, Perez came to the United States following two summer seasons in the Dominican Republic for the Gulf Coast League. In 47 games there in 2009, Perez put together the best season of his career by hitting .381 with a .946 OPS.

That strong campaign pushed Perez out of rookie ball the following year and earned him a spot in the 2010 Future’s Game at Angel Stadium. He made his MLB debut on September 1, 2012, before collecting his first major league hit on September 24. He reappeared in the bigs the next May with another stint that September, before his time with the Nationals ran out.

Eury was claimed off of waivers in 2014 by the New York Yankees and got 10 at bats with the Bronx Bombers. The Atlanta Braves claimed him in 2015, where he got his four MLB extra-base hits in his final big league stop.

From 2016 to 2018, he spent time at triple-A with affiliates of the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants organizations.

During each winter starting in 2010, Perez played for the Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League, his hometown team. Eury represented Escogido each winter through 2018 and won three championships.

Pérez, having spent the offseasons playing winter ball throughout his home island, next journeyed to Mexico after his 2018 season with the Giants to play for Yaquis de Obregon. He stayed in Mexico for 2019, appearing with Guerreros de Oaxaca and Olmecas de Tabasco.

After a brief hiatus from the game, the outfielder returned for the 2022 Atlantic League season with a .400 batting average in 17 games with the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes before another winter back home.

2023 was his introduction to the American Association in another 17-game stint, this time with the Sioux City Explorers. He returned to the Atlantic League for 2024 with the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars and spent the winter in Nicaragua with the Leones de Chinandega. Now in 2025, he has signed with Lake Country to return to the American Association.
