21 Jake Cantleberry

Following two seasons at San Jacinto Community College, Jake Cantleberry transferred closer to home to the University of Missouri. Striking out 97 batters prompted the Los Angeles Dodgers to draft the southpaw in the 13th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Cantleberry remained in rookie ball until 2021, pitching in the Arizona Complex League and Pioneer League.

He opened ‘21 at low-A Ranch Cucamonga and lasted less than a month before earning a promotion to high-A Great Lakes, which is where his 2022 began. A better performance to begin the year got Cantleberry to double-A Tulsa August 2022. The lefty never found his footing at double-A and was released shortly after the beginning of the 2023 season.

2024 was a roller coaster for Cantleberry, all of which in the American Association beginning with the Kansas City Monarchs. The Cleburne Railroaders acquired Cantleberry in a trade at the end of May but flipped him to Lake Country as the player to be named later for Juan Hillman’s trade to the Railroaders in the offseason.

Cantleberry revitalized the DockHounds bullpen, becoming the only left-handed pitcher on the staff and dominating with a 2.04 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. Now, Jake figures to be a big part of the bullpen again in 2025.
