A 13th-round draft pick in 2011 out of Westchester High School in Los Angeles, Robert Gsellman made stops at each minor-league level before making his MLB debut for the New York Mets in 2016. On August 23, he threw 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball against the St. Louis Cardinals and earned the win in his first MLB game
He totaled over 350 innings over six seasons in the blue and orange before throwing in eight games for the 2022 Chicago Cubs, his age-28 season. Most of his campaign that year was spent with their AAA affiliate in Iowa, but after he was released he latched onto an overseas opportunity. Gsellman ended the 2022 season and spent 2023 with the Yokohama Bay Stars, pitching to a 4.32 ERA in Japan.
He landed back in the states with the Washington Nationals in February of 2024 and was assigned to AAA Rochester. There, he pitched in 36 innings through 17 games.
Now in 2025, the veteran makes his American Association debut with Lake Country, adding another level of professional baseball he can check off his board.
