Hound #1! Our very first player is officially on the roster.

We have officially signed our first player in franchise history: Giovanni Brusa. (You fans can call him Gio.) HOWWWWL YES!

He’s a first baseman and outfielder with Triple-A level experience from Lodi, California. Fun fact: he’s also a switch hitter. (A dang good one.)

We lucked out scoring Gio. DockHounds Manager Jim Bennett said it best: “Signing Gio Brusa was truly a no-brainer. Not only does he have the potential to be an impact player, but fans will love him because he’s also a great teammate and a hard worker. I couldn’t be more excited to have landed such a talented player with our first signing and we look forward to adding more high-level talent like Gio in the near future.”

Gio played 4 years of collegiate baseball at University of the Pacific and was drafted in 2016 by the San Francisco Giants. He played 4 seasons in the San Francisco Giants system, playing at all 3 minor league levels including the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Giants.

Gio has shown his power throughout his time in the minors: In his 4 minor league seasons, he hit more than 60 homers and averaged more than 50 RBI’s each season.
